Popcorn service

Ever heard of that? That's what we had at evening service at church Sunday. Popcorn service.

Now that doesn't mean that we had popcorn in the sanctuary. It means the floor was turned over to the people of the congregation so that they could stand and give a short testimony of how God has blessed them. One person stood at the front and acted as a moderator of sorts, pointing to people who raised their hands so that each could take a turn in praising God for His goodness to them.

A service like that is very encouraging and uplifting. We don't always know what trials people are having, but it's always good to hear how God brought them through a trial and they got victory at the other end of it.

One man told how he was miraculously healed of cancer. A woman with three small boys told of how the doctors told her at age 21 she'd never have children and should have a hysterectomy.

I told how God has brought me through since Danny passed away last Christmas.

After praise and worship, listening to the people's testimonies really encouraged me greatly. And I didn't feel so alone in how I feel from day to day. I'm not the only recent widow there.
