Poverty and Birth Rate
faces. We've seen the distended bellies, the
faded hair color, and even the peeling skin of
starving babies worldwide. But what about hunger
in the richest nation on earth - the United States
of America?
This is the hidden hunger. Because we are such
a wealthy nation, the hungry and poverty stricken
have become invisible to us. Not because they
aren't there, but because we choose not to see
them. We turn aside from them. We walk away
from them.
The poor are made to feel ashamed of their
condition, and they will often hide it from us if
they can. The homeless live in camps at the
skirts of cities, in the wooded parks in urban
areas, in abandoned buildings, in cars, under
bridges, in alleys. They are all around us all the
time.
Poor children will never reveal how hungry they
are or the condition of where they live. Neither
will poor parents. Why? Because to many,
poverty is a crime punishable by having children
removed from the home.
So, why don't they get a job? Have you tried
getting a job and putting "third bridge from the
railroad track, next to the river" as your address?
It's the same for welfare programs. You must
have an address and you must supply at least a
message phone number. It's the same for
unemployment benefits. You can't get
government aid unless you have a good
address. Sorry. Saying "I live in a Buick" just
doesn't cut it.
But you know, there are other poor who aren't
homeless. They do live in homes. But, quite
often, the homes lack things. They may lack
enough bedspace for the family, so they use the
living room for a bedroom. They hide the fact that
the electricity has been cut off or that they don't
have heat. They won't tell you that all they have
to eat is ramen noodles or that a tall glass of
water was their supper. To tell you these things
means to risk condemnation and possibly
prosecution. They also won't tell you that they
can't afford insurance, but they can't afford a
doctor either.
There are other poor in this country - the working
poor. These are the people who, when they get
sick, keep working. If you notice they are sick
and suggest seeing a doctor, they will tell you
they have no insurance and can't afford it. But in
your mind, you're thinking they just don't want to
spend the money. No. Their money is being
spent to keep them and their family warm, dry,
and fed. There's nothing left for luxuries like
medical care or prescriptions. Yet, they also
don't qualify for government aid because they
make too much.
So, where are we now? If you're not convinced
there is real poverty and hunger in this nation, I
invite you to look at the following websites:

This site will give you facts and figures regarding the U.S. birth rate
and its decline:
U.S. Birth Rate Hits All-Time Low
An excellent article concerning population
growth/decline as it relates to economic impact
is Human Life Review.
As you can see, high population and high birth
rate aren't the causes of poverty. In fact, it's just
the opposite. When the birth rate of a country
levels off and begins to decline, the burden of
supporting an increasingly aging population falls
on their shoulders. With decreased birth rate
comes decreased numbers of workers,decreased
numbers of taxpayers, decreased
numbers of professional people, decreased
numbers of non-professional workers,
decreased numbers of people with new ideas or
inventions.
In the 70s when the ZPG people were preaching
their doctrines, many people believed every word
they said. The US birth rate began to decline to
the point that people aren't replacing themselves.
Note now that the decreased birth rate has given
us today the segment of the population that is
actually supporting the entire government and
economy. Birth control, abortion on demand, and
a general consensus that children are a bother
and marriage is a waste of time have contributed
to this.
God's Word teaches us how to treat the poor, and how to receive children into our families:
Isa 14:30And the firstborn of the poor shall feed, and the needy shall lie down in safety:
KJV
Deut 15:11 For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to thy needy, in thy land.
KJV
Ps 10:14 the poor committeth himself unto thee; thou art the helper of the fatherless.
KJV
Ps 82:4Deliver the poor and needy:
KJV
Prov 31:20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
KJV
Ps 127:3-5 Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.
Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them
KJV
Prov 17:6 Children's children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers.
KJV
Our enemies around the world couldn't have
planned this attack better. We are destroying
ourselves from within. The terrorists are to be
feared and they are us.
