It was yummy
The beans and taters, I mean. And the cornbread, too, of course. I wound up not getting any greens out to put with it, but the meal was hearty nonetheless and was all we could eat at one time.
I made sweet cornbread. Yes, I know. Southerners don't eat sweet cornbread. They call that "cake"..lol. But we like it sweet and yellow and cakey anyway, so that's what I fix. I make it from scratch, but there are mixes available if you don't want to make a very large amount. I generally fix a 9 inch iron skillet full of it, and we eat from that a day or so, or I make dressing with it.
