Microwave trickery

The previous post reminded me of a couple of things we've done in our microwave that are kind of fun.

1. Cut a chunk off a bar of Ivory soap. Put it in a bowl in the microwave and nuke it for about a minute or less. Watch what happens!

2. Put an old CD in the microwave. You know the ones you get free all the time in the mail or can pick up free out of a bin at Office Depot? Nuke it for a minute or less and watch it get pretty.

Please, please, supervise your children when doing these things. They should ONLY be done by an adult or with an adult present.

    1. The soap swells up and gets sort of powdery. You can still wash with it, but it's fun to watch it get big.

    2. The CD gets all crackly and you see rainbow colors on it.
