Crazy weather

Sunday, there were a lot of grown nieces and nephews here at my Sis' house to celebrate Mom's birthday. The weather was absolutely perfect for a family gathering. The sun was shining. The sky was clear. The temperature was around 75 degrees.

Monday, it was not so nice. We had storms and torrential rainfall that put Mom's walk way under about an inch and a half of water. When she wanted to go to my Sis' house next door, we had to make our way across the back yard, which was still very wet, and across the driveway, which looked more like a low water bridge on a high water day.

Then, last night it began to sleet while it was still thundering and lightening! By midnight, Mom's front porch was covered with a layer of ice. By this morning, it had started snowing. It snowed through the morning and when it finally stopped, we had about 2 inches of snow on the ground.

The highway in front of the house got covered with sleet, then snow. Cars were going along pretty slowly for awhile this morning. Mom's front porch and steps now had ice plus the heavy layer of snow. So, I swept the snow off the back porch and steps, and when the day warmed a bit, we were able once again to exit the house that way and come across the back yard to Sis' house.

Now, of course, the snow and ice are already melting away. The temperature is still pretty cold but it's not freezing, at least. However, I have to wonder if all this mess will re-freeze tonight after the sun goes down?
