Christmas Eve
The day began dreary with a hard rain. Not the best way for this day of all days to begin.
I got dressed, though, and headed to town to pick Son up so we could go out to eat. It had rained so much that there was water running over the road in one very low-lying area where a creek crosses under the highway. Other than that place, the roads were mostly just really wet.
Son and I ate at a new local Chinese restaurant. It was all very good food. Later, we headed to Big Town just for something to do. Shopped around at the super center and at a movie/book store. We weren't really looking for anything in particular- just wandering around.
In between lunch and shopping I was asked to help fix a credit card reader problem where I work. That took a couple of hours of phone calls to tech support before the problem was resolved.
After shopping, we headed back to our town where we met up with a friend for another round of Chinese food. Then, Son and I visited for awhile where he's staying and I headed home.
Got a call from Older Daughter saying they were coming out to visit and exchange gifts. It was a great visit. Grandson played his guitar and sang a couple of songs for me. I caught up with what the other Grandson and Granddaughter are keeping busy with now. Daughter brought me some home made goodies and a gift of a mortar and pestle - something I'd been wanting for my fresh herbs. I was excited to get it!
They headed home after awhile, though I wish they could have stayed longer. Still, it was a bright end to what started out to be a very depressing day.

Ann - glad to hear that you had a nice Christmas Eve. I always think of you (and pray for you) at this time of year especially. Perhaps your family coming over on Christmas Eve to spend time together opening gifts and visiting can be a new tradition that takes the place of old ones, and can be something to look forward to.
Take care,
Lizzy
