Defiance: The Book
Here is a story that I think I'd like to read. I'm pretty sure my sister would like it, too, and may just have to get her a copy for her birthday in January. We don't exchange Christmas gifts. We stopped doing that a long time ago so we could each have that money for our children or grandchildren.
The complete title of the book is DEFIANCE: Or How To Succeed in Business Despite Being Hounded By the FBI, the KGB, the INS, the Department of Justice, Interpol Hit Men. It is the true story of a self-made millionaire in post-Communist Russia. Alex Konanykhin controlled the largest bank in Russia but was feared by the higher-ups, and because of that was kidnapped. His fortune was stolen. He and his wife made an escape to the United States for refuge, but then had to fight the FBI, INS and Justice Department to keep from being deported back to Russia where he would surely lose his life.
Much like a Hollywood movie of intrigue, this true story tells of his riches to rags to riches life in America, and all that he had to endure to finally achieve success here.
I can't wait to get my hands on this from the Book Website and read it.
I also can't wait till I can get a copy of it for my sister. I'm sure she'll be as interested as I am to read this political true story.
