Investing

Ok, I'm no expert on investments or investing. I've only just begun this phase of my life by beginning to buy stock in McDonalds, which they make very easy to do because they take out $20 a month till the price of a share is met. But I do believe I need to know more about this whole aspect of finances so that when I finally retire, I won't be destitute but will have some kind of residual income to back up my Social Security.

I have just found that I can go to PortfolioLink and engage in stock market investing in a simulated environment. This can help me learn more. I can learn what to look for, how to react, and how to understand the ins and outs, ups and downs of the stock market world.

Here's just a little from their site:
PortfolioLink helps you to invest in yourself by providing a unique platform to improve your investment skills. You can try out different strategies without risking actual investment capital. You can set up a series of portfolios for different industries and monitor regularly for group strength. You can mirror the holdings of an actual portfolio and compare your portfolio's performance to other members

The site appears easy to follow. I can see where you might even be able to use this as a course for your homeschool children or for your older teens who may be interested in investments.
