Our old cat

She is about 14 or 15 years old now. An old white cat who's seen a lot of fights in her life. Her ears have holes in them. Her right eye is cloudy and I'm sure blind. Yet, she rules the roost around here. We are merely her subjects, she being the queen and all.

But lately her tummy has looked, umm, plump. Not because she'll have kittens, I think, because the size hasn't changed in a few weeks. So now I'm wondering if she has a tumor or something. Being as old as she is, I don't think she'd survive any kind of surgery. The anesthetic would do her in.

We'll just love on her and watch her to see what happens. If it begins to appear that she's in pain, then we'll have to have her put down. That will surely be a sad day for us all. The children have known this cat most of their lives and don't remember a time when we didn't have her with us.
