The blur that was last year

From this time 2005 until after the first of 2006, many things are a blur to us. We are now moving closer to the time when Danny passed away, and I find myself more sorrowful as the days go by.

Last night, we had hoped to finally put the new Christmas tree up and get a few decorations around in here. Alas, we can't find the huge tote that houses the decorations and the old tree. We have looked everywhere as far as I can tell. We usually store it in the building outside, but it's not there. None of us remembers where it was put. Further, none of us even remembers taking the tree and decorations down last year. It's like those memories have been wiped from our minds, overshadowed by the events surrounding Christmas.

I suppose I'll just buy a few new tree decorations someplace cheap so I can at least have the Christmas tree up, but I won't be putting anything else up this year. Not my Western birdhouse village. Not the stockings. Not the candle lights in the windows.

Elizabeth was over last night and would have helped me get the tree in place. She was also wanting her stocking.

Where could that stuff be?

Perhaps some family or friends took everything down for you last year. You might want to ask around. This time of year is hard for me, too. The first Christmas after Dad died (he was only gone for 6 weeks) was just a big tear fest. I don't think one of us enjoyed it. It really does get better. Hugs to you.

Since I've been doing this blog so long, I also journaled Danny's illness. I looked back in the archives and found http://zootalk.blogspot.com/2006/01/thursday-morning.html which tells me the kids took the stuff down. Still, they don't remember it.
