Mother and daughter banquet
Our church had a mother-daughter banquet Saturday evening, starting at 6 PM. Neither of my daughters were able to make it due to prior obligations, but I went anyway. There were other Moms there whose daughters also had to miss this event. Still, it was quite enjoyable overall.
First, as each lady arrived, she was escorted to a room where her picture was taken. They'll get prints and hand them out to us in a few days. Then, we went to the dining hall where we were seated at tables that were beautifully decorated with very feminine items. Lots of pretty flowers, wicker items, candles - the works. There were place cards to indicate where we were to be seated.
Several men of the church had prepared the dinner and served it to us with much grace. We were served salads as appetizers. The dinner was herbed baked chicken, yellow rice, crescent rolls, and whole green beans wrapped with a strip of bacon. Dessert was whole strawberries, slices of kiwi fruit, and tiny cream filled pastries, all sprinkled with powdered sugar and plated on chocolate sauce.
After the dinner and time of fun and sharing, we went into the sanctuary where we had praise and worship, with only the male members of the praise team leading so the women who are part of that could sit back and enjoy it all. A lady from another church spoke to us about open doors, as taught in the Bible. She encouraged us to find and go through the doors the Lord has opened for us. After her talk, we had congregational prayer and singing, then were dismissed.
It all lasted from 6 PM to about 9 PM, but it seemed to go much faster than that. I was sad it was over, but did feel special and refreshed at the end of it all.
