National Day of Prayer

May 3 is the National Day of Prayer. This is a time for you to gather at your county courthouse or in your church to pray for our nation, our nation's leaders, and for each other. The National Day of Prayer is an important day for Christians to gather and show the world that they are not ashamed of their faith. It's not a day for confrontation. It's not a day for arguments. It's not a day to be militant. It's a day to take up the Constitution at its word that religious freedom is still alive in this nation. It's a day for us - Christians - to simply say we love our country and pray for God's blessings on it.

Praying for our leaders is a Biblical mandate and that doesn't mean just the ones we like. We are told to pray for all of our leaders so that they may do their job correctly and execute their offices with dignity, honesty, integrity, and an attitude that they are in place to uphold our laws and protect our citizens.

1 Tim 2:1-2
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
KJV
