Television of the future
According to what I've read, all TV stations will be HD without any analog broadcasting by February 17, 2009. I might still be able to use my old analog TV, but I'll have to have a special converter to view commercial television with it. So will you, if you don't already have HDTV. Bear in mind, this is not the same thing as digital cable. HDTV is a whole 'nuther animal in its own right.
I've also heard that those of us with surround sound in place may also have to replace that and get something like the Bose home theater system to get the full audio from our televisions. I'm not sure about that yet, though, and will update when I find out.
Looks like I'll be shopping for a TV sometime after Christmas. I have a feeling that my 25 year old (maybe older) TV won't be even close to compatible with the new technology.

The whole change to all digital thing is happening in the UK next year, its kinda mad - cos im gonna have to sort everything out so i can get a good signal in my bedroom. We have digital in the loung but if me and my brother want to watch something different it will be tricky. Im sure it will all work out.
As far as im aware theres only a few HD channels over here at mo.
