Young people
I'm not exactly sure what's up with young people lately, but it seems like they do things that undermine their own futures as if there will be no repercussions later down the road. I work with several, and they are actually young adults. They're in their early twenties, and yet cannot drive or own a car, do not have any purchasing power, and essentially live a very dependent life even though they don't live with their parents.
These young adults have gone astray so much in their teen years that they've cut themselves off from having any kind of a decent life in their future for many years to come. Some of them walk or ride a bicycle to work because they can no longer get a driver's license. They are also unable to buy a car even at places that offer no credit check, you-work-you-ride. This is because, besides the license issue, they can't even get car insurance.
Some of them owe money to the courts and aren't making any effort to pay it off. They sway they don't make enough to do this, but my thought is that without the upkeep of a vehicle, they could be applying something toward their court costs so they can get that behind them and begin having a real life.
