Crazy Tuesday

It's been a bit of a crazy day already. I closed last night and got home around 12:45 AM. Then, this morning, I got a call that the opening manager was going to be running late so would I go open the store? It was nearly 4:30 then, and crew needed to get in at 4:30 to get things started. So, yes, I opened.

I wasn't there long until the actual opening manager showed up, apologizing and thanking me for coming up there and doing this. So, I came back home, hoping to sleep until I had to get up and get ready for the rest of the day.

At about 9 AM the phone rang again. Could I come to the store and watch over it while the manager went to settle some bank business? OK. So, I went back and stayed until about 11, then came back home.

By now, I'm not even sleepy anymore and going to sleep now would just mess me up more anyway.

We have an appointment with the mortgage guy at 2:30 PM today. He missed yesterday's appointment due to being held up at a meeting in Real Big City. So, we'll meet with him today and see what's going on. The meeting will have to be short because I have to close at Other City tonight, which means being there at 4 PM.

.....

I think I need a vacation!

Sounds like they are taking you for granted. A person has to get their sleep. Unless you are being well compensated for those two extra trips, I think I'd want to have a serious talk with the manager.

Big corporations are notorious about taking advantage of good-hearted employees such as yourself and not compensating you!

Well, I do get paid for all the time I'm there so I can't complain. Being willing to work like this does have its advantages, too. For instance, I now get first choice as far as my preferred work location and my paid vacation days. This also helps me to be a candidate for further promotions.
