Visiting Mom - Day 1
I thought at first that I wasn't gong to be able to have a visit with Mom this month. Son needed a way to work Monday and Tuesday, plus the extra gas I'd used had pretty well dipped into the money I had saved back for gas for the trip. However, Sis talked to Niece and I was able to ride up with Niece, her grandson, and my great-niece on my brother's side.
It meant not having my own vehicle while visiting, but that's perfectly OK. The main thing was to be able to see Mom for a few days.
I take 4 days off in the early part of each month to visit. I missed in February due to bad weather - icy roads were predicted. While the ice never materialized on what would have been my trip up here, it hit us pretty hard on the last two days planned so I wouldn't have been able to make it back home again.
We were late getting here because between working and getting Son back and forth to work, I was pretty well done-in. Nephew and his wife were up most of the day washing Mom's windows and doing other little chores that needed doing. Since it was after lunch before we got here, we didn't get to visit with them for long before they had to head back home.
We had a nice supper of fried chicken, potato salad, macaroni salad, baked beans, and fresh tomatoes. Dessert was pineapple upside down cake. The cake was made to celebrate Sis' dog's birthday. She is 17 now!
