Pumpkin days
I've had two days off work, but I feel like I've been working non-stop anyway. Well, I guess I have!
I've been occupying my time both days with baking down two pumpkins, making pumpkin breads, and canning pumpkin butter. I hope to get some more of these delicious winter squashes before the season is over, and since Halloween is past, I should be able to get them at bargain prices. Even if I don't bake them down right away, they will keep in a cool room for quite awhile.
I return to work tomorrow at 6 AM, which is an hour I don't look forward to. It means having to arise no later than 4:30 AM in order to get ready for work and make the trip into town. I shouldn't complain, though. At least I do have a job to go to.
I still have a lot of things to do at home:
- Make hot chocolate mix
- Make chai tea mix
- Make muffin mix
- Freeze pumpkin for later use
None of those things is really complicated, it's just a matter of gathering ingredients and utensils, then starting on the projects. These are things I do every year so we'll have good treats at home and I can give them as gifts to others.
