Cold Sunday

Sunday morning started out quite cool with a temperature of 45 degrees F. At least the sun was shining, but this cold snap is pretty sudden and the high was expected to only be in the mid-50s. My little dog spent the night curled up next to the heater I put in the living room. As usual, I was up and down during the night and she would get up, too. But then she'd go right back next to the heater as soon I laid back down. Neither of us likes cold weather, although if it snows, she loves to romp in that for a few minutes! At least she has in the past. She's getting older now and may not enjoy the cold snow anymore.

The first order of business, since I'm off work today, was getting some coffee brewing. While it brewed, I threw some laundry in the washer. I had to hang part of the laundry around the house because of  rain predictions again today. Breakfast was a hot bowl of oatmeal with cinnamon, raisins, butter, and milk in it, with a couple slices of molasses cinnamon homemade bread, toasted, and a steaming cup of coffee with fresh milk in it. That got me ready to do the day's chores.

I started bread in the machines -- jalapeno cheese bread and honey white bread. While those were making, I got more laundry done and did the dishes as I went along. One of the jalapeno cheese loaves will be for my younger daughter. I need to get even more bread made so I can share it with my other kids. Since I had today off and I have tomorrow off, that should give me enough time to make all I want to, in between other chores.

I put some rabbit parts and pieces on to stew. This was a gallon zip bag I had in the freezer that's mostly backs and ribs, but there is plenty of good meat on them. It's just hard to use them for fryer pieces because of how bony they are. I added onion, carrots, and a bit of celery. I let it stew a couple of hours, then I made dumplings after I'd deboned the parts. It was delicious. Had the rabbit dumplings with rice, toasted honey bran bread, and calico potatoes. A good body-warming supper to take us into a cold night.

There is still laundry on the line that I will bring in tomorrow. Some laundry got hung up in the bathroom, but the rest had to go out. It didn't rain so it should be ok.

After supper and clean up, I pretty much just vegged in front of my laptop, watching Netflix shows.

Sad note: One of our local anchormen was killed in a car wreck last night. He was young and left a wife and 10 month old baby behind. He had just started working for the channel last month and was a lifelong native of our state. Such a sad loss for all.
