Lest I forget
I am raising red wiggler worms. Did I tell you that already? I bought them from a guy on eBay and have had them for a couple of months now. It's probably time to divide the lot.
Red wigglers (re: WKRP - "the Cadillac of worms") are good for fish bait, for composting, and for the castings to be used in potting soil. I'm hoping to really get this going strong. One good thing is that you don't need an expensive set-up to get started. I use a plastic tote with a lid. I can toss in veggie scraps about once a week and make sure the soil is damp for them. I keep it in a location that's shady all the time.
Soon I'll need to put the totes where they won't freeze. I think I can store them where the feed used to be and get some straw and newspaper to put around them for insulation. I don't want my herd to be worm-cicles!
