Answer me this...
At work, why is it that when you tell someone to do X, they resist so greatly? I'll give you an example. The other night I told one of the boys to please wash dishes. He was in the first drive-thru window, and that IS the task assigned to that position because the sink is right there. He refused, saying he didn't like it. What??
I jacked him up pretty good about it. I told him he got the same rate of pay whether he was taking orders from customers or washing dishes or cleaning toilets. I told him that when you are working for someone else, you are under their authority and are required to perform reasonable tasks for them, and this was not only reasonable but expected.
What is it with people who hire on and then think they can dictate what their job will consist of?
By the way, the boy washed the dishes. He's not a bad kid, but sometimes he is a bonehead.

Ann, I loved this! Do you know it actually never dawned on most people that are working an hourly wage that they get paid the same whatever it is that they're doing - just like you told that kid. Common sense isn't common any more!!!

I encounter this at work a lot, and it simply makes no sense to me.
