Road graders

The road graders have been going up and down our rocky, hillside road all morning. They are trying to smooth it out a bit. Good luck with that!

This road is very rough and there are huge rocks in the roadbed, which means as those break apart during icy weather or due to what little traffic we have up here, some really large stones get turned up and I have to navigate around them in my car or risk knocking a hole in the oil pan. When it rains hard, some places wash out across the road. Yes, across and not down the hill. They become like low water bridges during a rain storm and they leave a small gully behind when the rain stops.

Now, I appreciate that the county grades the road from time to time, though not nearly often enough. But the very next rainfall will have those same gullies, more rocks, and just plain rugged terrain turned up on the road.

Remember that I bought a car recently? Well, it's already rattling even though I go very slowly up and down the road. My tires are getting pretty worn, too, from all the rocks.
