Saturday plans

I'm sitting here drinking coffee and trying to wake up. We had to work last night, scheduled till 10 PM, and wound up working till 10:30. Not a big deal, you'd think, but that extra 30 minutes just about did me in.

We have to be back at work at 11 AM and I'm dragging now, wishing I didn't have to go. Oh, well, it'll be better when I finally get moving and get enough coffee in me.

We work till 6 PM, then we'll stop by the grocery store so we can pick up my female boarder's WIC stuff. Then we'll head home.

I'm going to have to have a household meeting with everyone, though, to let them know that them paying a little rent doesn't make me the maid. They aren't paying enough for that!

I'm tired of being the only person in this house who ever thinks to run the dishwasher when there are a lot of dirty dishes. And believe me, they accumulate quickly. I'm tired of being the one who makes sure there are clean towels for baths. How hard is it to put a load of towels in the washer every so often?

One of the boarders s moving to another house on the 20th, which is fine. That's not many days hence. The other one doesn't seem to have any plans at all about getting her own place, and why should she? She wouldn't be able to pay what little she pays now and get all the benefits she gets here. Yet, it's really what the original plan was.

The boarders aren't here to be permanent fixtures. This is just a stop-gap to get them on their feet, and it looks like I'm going to have to do some very strong encouragement about that. She (nor the other one) have kept up their part of the bargain as far as pitching in for household chores. My previous two boarders did a lot. One even was an excellent cook and would wash the dishes after every meal. Lately, there haven't been too many home cooked meals because the dishes are always piled up. I hate that!

These two are just two more examples of why parents should teach their children well. They aren't raising children (or shouldn't be) - they are raising adults!
