Missing lunch

We had planned to have lunch with Elizabeth today. However, last night the schedule was changed and we wound up having to go to work at noon instead of at 3 PM.

There were a couple of reasons for the schedule change. One is that one of the other managers called in to say her back is aching and the doctor told her to stay off work for a few days. Now, this manager already took a week off just a short while back, after she had been scheduled to work. It was for the same reason and it caused a hardship on the rest of us because we all had to work harder and extra time to fill in for her.

The other reason is that another manager also had back trouble. However, I think she seriously hurt her back at work and possibly has a ruptured or slipped disk. She's to be off a day or two more, and will return to work if she can handle it without too much pain. I was there the day she hurt her back, and she could barely move, let alone walk. It was obvious she had done something pretty serious to her back when one of the crew members found her in the floor of the stockroom saying she couldn't get up because of the searing pain in her legs.

All that to say that our scheduled time has increased somewhat, as have the times for the other managers. We should be able to have lunch with E tomorrow (Friday), though. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that no other managers suddenly develop back problems!
