Tamales!
Where I work there is a lovely Mexican lady who is an excellent cook of authentic Mexican foods. A few days ago I asked her what she would charge to make me some tamales. She decided $10 for a dozen.Well, they are worth more than that so I paid her $15 per dozen.
She made me two dozen tamales that I put in the freezer for quick meals. She made pork, chicken, and jalapeno with cheese stuffed tamales and they are just awesome. They are large tamales, wrapped in real corn shucks. All I have to do is take a couple out of the freezer and steam them, add some veggies, and I have a nice meal.
Tamale stands around here charge $3 or $4 each for these treats, and they aren't half as good as what I can get from this lady. Tamales in the grocery store...well...I don't know what to say. They just aren't good after having eaten Maria Tamales!
I contacted Son, and he came right out to indulge in a couple of Maria Tamales the day I got them. He took a few home with him, too. He knows just how good they are.
