Grape festival
I don't think I ever posted about going to the Grape Festival in the western part of our state. I was happy to be able to join Mom, Sis, and Brother-in-law for that little vacation trip. It was only for 3 days, but in the heat we've been experiencing, that was probably long enough.
We were a bit disappointed that there was no fireworks display this year, but it's understandable because almost the entire state is under a burn ban. Usually, the fireworks display is held on Friday night.
The actual festival, which went on all day Saturday, was fun, though. All kinds of vendors of crafts and foods were on hand. Bands took turns playing throughout the day. At one point, because it was so hot, I saw one of the female band members (an Oompah band) pour cold, bottled water over her head in an effort to cool down!
The wine tasting booths stayed busy, with their chilled wines and grape juices. I found one which was really refreshing. A new product called Moscato, which was crisp and sparkling. Just the thing for a hot day. It comes in a festive screen printed cobalt blue bottle, so it's just fun all the way around. I'll be looking for this one on my next excursion to the store where I buy wine.
