Wednesday off work
I slept really late this morning. That's because I was up way too late last night watching season 2 of The Walking Dead. Dang, I watched it all in the past couple of days so now I'll have a long wait till then next one is released at Netflix.
I made my coffee, as usual. Something I never used to do was put milk in my coffee, but I've come to enjoy it now. I still drink a lot of black coffee, of course, but the milk cools down the freshly perked hot coffee and offers a smoothness for early morning drinking.
I then began baking bread. I made a loaf of jalapeno cheese bread to take to Younger Daughter's house this evening, where we joined her and her husband for a dinner of white chicken chili. I also took along a loaf of my cinnamon/molasses/raisin bread as a gift. They have just moved into a very nice house. In fact, it's the very house where they had their wedding. What is it? Bread, salt, and wine for a housewarming gift? Well, I have the bread and the wine, but I should have picked up a box of sea salt yesterday while I was in town!
We headed to Daughter's house around 4:00 and arrived around 4:30. She was still cooking the chili and together we put the finishing touches on it, then let it simmer until her husband arrived home. We sat down and enjoyed our delicious meal of the white chicken chili, homemade jalapeno cheese bread, and glasses of Moscato wine. After dinner, we relaxed awhile and visited. Then Daughter made peanut butter cookies and also offered us peaches and cottage cheese. Since I can't have peanut butter, I thoroughly enjoyed a bowl of the peaches and cottage cheese. After that, we visited some more then headed back home again. It was a lovely, cool evening for this visit, part of which was spent on the spacious front porch of the house as we listened to the creatures of the night singing their lullabies.
At home, it was time to head to bed, since it was after 9 PM when we got here. I had to be up early to be at work at 6 AM.
