Geek alert - GPS

When we were in town, I went to a jewelry store to see about having my necklace fixed. It's the one I got from Brandon for Christmas and I put Danny's wedding band on it. Anyway, it had broken right at the clasp. I thought it might be something they could just hook back together, but it needs to be soldered back. While I was there, I noticed that if you write a check for anything, they have a fingerprint scanner for identification and verification. Ok. I'm behind the times I guess because that seemed a bit too much for me. I'll pay with cash, thank you.

But seeing that led to other thoughts of the geek persuasion. There is so much technology that's readily available these days to ordinary folks like me. Gone are the days when you have to be pretty well heeled to afford such things as an Automotive GPS. Where once they came as equipment in luxury cars, now I could even get one put in my old Sable. It's really something to consider if I wind up traveling alone very much, especially over long distances. I'd hate to be stranded in a place where I can't get cell phone signals. GPS works through any kind of weather, all over the face of the globe, so long as there aren't any large things blocking it, such as tall buildings. But let's face it, if there are tall buildings then we aren't stranded, are we?

NortheastMarineElectronics.com offers discount priced GPS and other devices to the public. For instance, fish finders and depth finders for the avid fisherman. Add a GPS unit to your boat, and you can feel comfortable even in open water since if you boat quits running, you can still be found and rescued - along with the catch of the day.
