Severe winter weather

Ok. Literally thousands of people are sitting without power right now. At least 56 deaths have been blamed on the severe winter weather that's swept across the nation. People are in shelters. Or they are in their homes, where it's dark and cold. They are huddling under blankets, many with no heat source at all.

Here's my question: Where's the outpouring of aid for them? Where are the long lines of trucks, filled with food, water, blankets, and other supplies? Where are the volunteers rushing in to lend a helping hand?

Without a doubt, an ice storm is just as devastating as any other storm. Maybe moreso, since the frigid temperatures can quickly lead to death.

Seven counties in Arkansas have been declared disaster areas due to ice and flooding from recent days. What does that mean? It means the eventually, maybe, they'll get some help rebuilding. Maybe not. We all know how that works. But what about right now? Are there any convoys of aid heading up there? Are there any convoys heading anywhere that the winter weather has brought havoc and death?

Ice storms are just as bad.
That last winter before I moved here, all of New England had a severe snow and ice storm. People were without power for 3 weeks. Freezing to death, just like now.
We got no aid up there when it happened either.
It's really weird which natural disasters help comes for and which ones it doesn't.
