You can't tell a book

More and more of the young people we employ at McDonald's have lots of piercings and body jewelry. The store policy is that they can't wear all of it while on the clock. So, those who have lip piercings, nose piercings, and brow piercings have to put in "retainers".

Retainers are clear plastic items that fit into the piercing holes without showing too much. Leaving them out could mean the piercings will close up.

I can't imagine having all that piercing on my own face, and some of the young people look a bit scary with all that metal on their faces. Yet, when you meet them and work with them, they tend to be kids who really do work hard and do whatever their job calls for. I also find they are friendly and funny and fair-minded kids.
