Working extra hours

I should have a good paycheck next go-round. I've worked every day since last Wednesday, mostly in the store in the Other City.

Monday, I was supposed to work in my regular store. I was originally scheduled to open but because I closed at the Other City store the night before, I was told to go in at 11 AM.

I headed to town to pay some bills and go to the bank, when I got a phone call to go to the Other City store to work midshift. I didn't have anyone with me, so I headed on down there.

Yesterday, I opened at my regular store, which meant getting up at 3 AM to get ready for work and drink some coffee. I arrived at 4:30 AM and we did what was necessary to get the store open. One of the people who was supposed to be there at 5:30 AM didn't show up. It turns out she had called the night before and was told she was off work. However, once she knew she was supposed to be there, she came on in, so that worked out OK.

I let the early people have their breaks, then around 7:30 I took mine. I had taken a leftover portion of salad from eating out the night before, and was in the middle of eating that when my general manager came in and told me I was needed at the Other City store.

OK. I threw the rest of my salad away and gathered my stuff to go. The girl who was late went with me and we went to the other store. The opening manager was there, but got off early due to it being her birthday. No other manager was scheduled until much later in the day and we wound up staying until 3:00 PM or so. The closing manager was called to come in early, but it wasn't so early that we got off when we should have.

I was wiped out by the time I finally got home. I took a long, hot shower and napped on the couch until Elizabeth called to say she was coming to help me pack stuff.
