Lowering the lights
In an effort to further reduce my spending, I've developed the habit of turning off the outlet strips that operate certain non-critical electrical items in my home. When I leave for work or overnight, I turn them off to prevent the power pull that results from items that remain on stand-by when not in use.
Of course, I've got energy saving light bulbs throughout my home. I began "collecting" these light bulbs a couple of years ago and moved them with me when I moved the last two times. They have proven to be well-worth the investment in energy savings.
With the times being as they are, I am even more committed to reducing my spending and concentrating on doing those things that are not only frugal but earth-friendly.
