Summer morning musings

I can tell it's going to be hot today, but at least it's fairly pleasant out here on the front porch this morning. The air has a bit of a haze to it.

Dog and Cat are lolling about outside enjoying the morning as the cicadas sing their loud songs. Who says the country life is quiet? It's just got different kinds of noise, but it's noise that isn't so intrusive into my thoughts as those in town.

I can sit out on my front porch with my laptop, enjoy the small, cool breeze that drifts by every so often, and let my mind wander. My thoughts travel from need-to-dos to want-to-dos - laundry, crafting, gardening, building a worm bed for composting. You name it. Between the need-to-dos and the want-to-dos, I stay pretty active at home. So active that you'd think I was taking Avesil to cut my appetite. There's something about being active that really reduces the appetite.

The worm bed idea will require Son's help so I'll get him up in a bit so we can get that done before it gets too hot outside. Son-in-law has given me permission to bring a couple of wooden boxes out from under the back deck of his other house. No one's going to use them and they'd be great for composting and raising red wiggler worms.

Son complained the other day that it was 2.50 for about 10 or 12 worms in a bait box. Raising some ourselves would provide me with plenty of good gardening and potting media and would give him worms for fishing.

Update on worm bed: Somebody tore the wood crates up so I can't use them. Guess I'll try something else later.
