The fun just never stops
If it's not one thing, it's another. Now the brakes on my truck have gone out. I was on my way from work, but still in town, when there was a loud pop and the brake peddle went all the way to the floor! Luckily, I had the presence of mind to pull off into a local gas station and sort of coast-stop around the back.
I called home. Son and his friend came, but we still didn't know for sure what to do next. I really can't afford a brake job (looking at around $200) and I don't have another vehicle at home. Also, I'm kind of scared to drive my truck very far. If you push real hard on the brakes, it will slow down and eventually stop, but it's not right the way it's doing it.
Son's friend actually has another vehicle at his uncle's auto shop. It needs a starter, they think, and it can be driven. Son and friend went there to see about putting a starter on it from another old vehicle of the same make and model. I haven't heard from them yet. (Today is Friday, by the way, and this whole fiasco started at around 2:30 pm.)
My next pay will need to cover rent and my truck payment, so I don't really see how I can also fit in a big repair bill like this. Maybe something will come through for me, though, and I can be back on the road in my own red truck again ASAP.
