More truck repairs

Before long, I'll have a totally new Explorer SUV. A couple of months ago, I had to have the front brakes completely replaced - I mean everything. That was quite a chunk of change but I made it with help. Before that, I replaced three tires with new ones. (The other tire was formerly the spare and it had never been on the ground, so it served as the fourth new tire.)

Now, after Son taking it to Memphis for a week of special classes for work, one of the wheel bearings is out. It wasn't anything he did. It's just a part that wore out. So a friend called the parts store for a quote on what I needed to fix it. He said he could put the parts in. Ok. The parts store said it would be around $165. Whoa!

Well, I had them hold the parts anyway. I have the money, though that's not where I wanted it to go, and I planned to go by today and pick it up. When I got there, I told them about it all and told them the year model of my Explorer. It wound up costing me a lot less.

Since this is an older model, the parts aren't "bundled" like they are for newer ones. It was under $50 instead of being $165. I'm happy with that price and figure I'll get the wheel bearing for the other side after the next paycheck. That way, they'll both be new and under warranty. I really just hope that's all that's really wrong with the truck.

I really had hoped to be able to get some truck accessories like a new console for between the seats since the one I have now is broken. The armrest portion snapped off some time back.

It's always something, isn't it?
