Playing in the snow
Saturday mid-morning during the icy weather...
Dog loves the snow. I took her out a little while ago, after I'd bundled up and put on my rubber boots..
We walked down to the highway to see how that looked (it was still covered with ice and snow). The road in front of our house has seen very little traffic. In fact, it looks like the tracks were made yesterday, before we got this near-4 inches of snow on top of the ice. I saw a couple of 4-wheel-drive trucks pass by, but otherwise there hasn't been a lot of traffic on the highway, either.
Anyway, it was hard to get Dog to come back in after she'd done her business outside. She was running and cavorting like a pup, kicking up snow and digging her nose into it in sheer joy. We don't get a lot of snow here, so this was a real treat for her. I'll take her out again later, after I warm up, and let her just romp and play for awhile. She'll come in with her muzzle and the longer part of her hair covered with tiny snowballs. I'll towel those off so she doesn't "melt" everywhere.
Cat went out with us, however, he is not so fond of the white stuff so was ready to head back inside in a few minutes.
There were other footprints in the snow, leading from our neighbor's house to the highway. I suppose they were wondering the same thing I was - is the highway fit for driving on? One of their children was outside, all bundled up, playing in the snow when Dog, Cat, and I went out. This is the kind of weather that closes schools here, since there are so many rural students, and makes for great play days for the kids.
