Wednesday off
I had a pretty pleasant day off today. I slept late - well, late when you figure I usually have to get up at 3 AM! I slept in till 7! Woohoo!
I got on the computer for a bit. Okay. A long bit. I watched some movies and listened to some music. Got my kitchen cleaned up and part of the dining area. I'm fighting dog hair every day right now because Dog is allergic to grass outside and scratches like nobody's business when she comes in. She has scratched off enough hair to build two more dogs, I think.
I went outside at one point and started digging where I'd planted a few potatoes last year. I never got them out last year, so this year they decided to sprout up again. I got enough little taters to make myself a kind of stew. I cut some chives, parsley, a pinch of rosemary, some lemon balm, cut up a chili pepper and a fajita bell pepper from the garden, tossed in some grape tomatoes from the freezer, and seasoned it with no-salt seasoning. I stewed the mix until the potatoes were tender and put it over rice. It was really delicious! I had enough for two meals, even though the potatoes were only about as big as the end of my index finger...lol.
It's dark outside now, so I'll go out and water everything. This has become a daily ritual since we haven't had rain in awhile. It's ok, though. I get to see some of the creatures that only fly at night, including one gem that hovers around the blooms on the plants like a hummingbird. It's some kind of moth, but is larger than your run-of-the-mill moths with a large, fleshy body and a proboscis it uses to drink the nectar from the blooms. It's almost like watching a fairy flying around.
There is a bat or two that silently fly by the security light, snatching insects in flight. I watch them with great interest, yet never hear them flying. I am hoping to build a couple of bat houses from scrap lumber soon so these creatures will stay nearby and help reduce the night bug population.
Ok...time for watering.
