Fun weekend
I've had a pretty nice weekend. I had to work Saturday, but it was an early shift (not opening, though), so that gave me time to rest a little and get ready to go see my Nephew and his band play in a big town near the Capitol City.
They played until midnight, and when it was over, I came on home. They didn't have as large an audience as they'd hoped for, though. For one thing, there was a PBR rodeo going on at the Arena. Also, a large portion of the street where the pub is was closed to the public for a gala event featuring former President Bill Clinton. There were police and security everywhere at the entrance to the event. Between those two events, pub attendance was down and parking on the same street as the pub was nigh impossible. I had to park two blocks away.
Nephew walked me back to my vehicle, since by then all the police and security guards had left and the street was open again.
It's been awhile since I was able to see this band perform, and I'm really glad I went. Although, I'm not too keen on driving in that City, it wasn't so bad late in the evening when most businesses are closed for the day.
Funny: After I got off the Interstate and was on the access road, I was hastily directed to turn on a street I didn't really want to turn down. The guy with the flashlight was waving it wildly till I thought he might throw himself in front of my truck if I didn't heed his directions. About a block down, there was a young lady, also with a flashlight, motioning me into a parking lot. I rolled down my window and explained to her where I was heading. She chuckled, then gave me directions how to get back on the right street again. These folks were parking cars headed for the arena, which is NOT where I was going!
