NO MORE ICE, PLEASE!

I really can't remember having so much winter weather, for such a long period of time, as we have had lately. We've had week after week of snow, extremely cold temperatures, and ice since the last part of January. Now, we are expecting even more snow and ice.

The first snowfall made the road out to my house very dangerous, which meant I lost a day's pay because I couldn't get to work. Then it warmed to spring-like temperatures for a few days, giving me hope of an early spring. That hope was soon dashed, though, as February brought front after front through our fair state. One front looked exactly like a hurricane on the radar. It was swirling around instead of passing through, drawing cold air from the north and moisture from the gulf which dumped ice and snow on us. Again, the road to my house became dangerous.

I spent some time wrestling with the decision to go to Mom's for my monthly 4-day visit, and opted against it considering the weather moving in. Saturday, as I headed to work, I was diverted to another route because one of the oil rig trucks had rolled over on the hill I have to go up on my way into town. It still had ice on it (that part of the road is always shaded and doesn't melt very quickly), so being rerouted was probably for the best. The back road was just slushy.

I am SO ready for spring!
