Rainy Friday night

It's Friday night and it's raining lightly outside. We are supposed to have some rain over the next few days, and I sure do welcome it. Hearing the rain makes me ready to go to bed!

I wasn't feeling real perky last night before bed so I wasn't sure how I'd feel this morning. I was better, so off to work I headed when it was time. I had to be there at 11 this morning, which meant I didn't have to get up too early. I probably had enough time this morning to accomplish a few things, but I chose to just be lazy for a little while before work, instead.

It was a typical Friday at work. Busy. Sometimes it seems like everyone is off work on Friday and decide to eat where I work all at the same time. It's ok. I'd rather it be a little busy than real slow. Slow is boring.

I got a text message from my younger daughter while I was on my way to work. Nothing bad. She said "The persimmons have spoons in them. That means lots of snow!" For those who don't really understand that, here in the South it's said that when you split a persimmon seed open and look at the image inside it, you can tell what kind of winter you'll have. If it looks like a spoon it means lots of snow. If it looks like a fork, it means lots of rain. We'll put this to the test over the next few months.

Back at home after work, we wound up just snacking for supper. Made some tortilla chips from corn tortillas and finished off the corn and black bean salsa and the frijoles with them. Nothing fancy and certainly not exactly healthful, but it was fun and tasty anyway. (We'd had Mexican food for supper - home made - a couple of nights ago and that was what was left.)

The temperatures have cooled down to a tolerable level so I haven't had to run the air conditioner too much. In the afternoon, I'll run it for a few minutes to get the house cooled down a little, then turn it back off. I'm very thankful for that!
