Preparing for storms
Batten down the hatches. It looks like we're in for a couple of days of storms, beginning Tuesday. Yes, it's really November but this is Arkansas, so the season of the year means nothing at all when it comes to severe storms or even tornadoes.
I think I have the birds and bunnies set up ok. We have attached heavy, clear plastic to the quail cages to protect them from blowing rain and cold wind. The chicken house does a pretty good job of keeping the hens dry already, though the end door should also be covered with plastic to keep cold winds from blowing through.
The bunnies have boards surrounding their hutches already, and good roofs over their heads. They should be just fine. Rabbits lend themselves to cold weather more readily than some other animals, so just providing a dry place with some weather protection is just about all they need.
I'll be picking up a bale of hay Tuesday to help finish off the quail, chicken, and rabbit nesting needs.
