Bracing for storms again
I guess the weather can't decide if it's spring, summer, fall, or winter right now. We have had some very cold nights with frost, and chilly days. Then again, we've had some warm, stormy days as well. Today is a warm day and we may be getting storms tonight.
The generator is set up so that all that needs to be done if the power goes out is crank it up and plug in a heavy duty extension cord. I can power a light, my laptop, and my wireless modem with that, with plenty of watts left over if I wanted to run something else.
Son drove a ground rod into the soil this afternoon for added safety, so the ground wire is hooked up now. We have a large piece of roofing tin over the top of the generator and it's sitting on the base of an old gas grill. It fit on that perfectly. The base has wheels in case we need to move it, but I think it's really in its permanent location now.
I have a power strip inside so all I really need to do if we lose power is unplug it from the wall and plug it into the cord that goes to the generator.
We took care of all the animals early this morning so we wouldn't have to worry about that when it's storming. They are all well fed and watered, and settled in just in case it gets real bad.
