Wednesday evening
It's been a beautiful, sunny day here today. Started out cold enough to have freezing fog in the area, then wound up near 60 this afternoon. We opened a window and the front door, it was so nice.
I had a lovely visit yesterday evening with my friend who owns the homeschool store and private school. She brought some fried rice full of veggies and meats. I fixed white beans, got a loaf of homemade bread out of the freezer, and got a homemade sweet potato pie out, too. We had a lovely supper together as we chatted. I really needed that visit and the one-on-one with her. She is such a blessing to me and is so encouraging.
We met several years ago, right after we moved to Arkansas. I saw a flyer on the bulletin board at the local supermarket, advertising the opening of her store and giving contact information. We corresponded by email a few times. Then I decided to stop in at the store. Immediately she said, "You're Ann!" She knew me before I said a word! We became friends right away. When she started having homeschool kids come to do schoolwork there while parents went to work, I helped out with the kids and grew to love them. Since then, while I haven't worked there, I know I'm welcome any time and am always greeted warmly by her, the children, and the staff who are now teaching in what evolved into a private school.
We've spent lots of times at the table there, drinking coffee, praying, sometimes crying together. She's a kindred spirit.
The kids both came home while she was still here last night and we all had a good visit 'round the kitchen table as she and I drank coffee.
Today, my spirits were more lifted and I owe that to many prayers and to my dear friend visiting. I worked on the knitting board contentedly a lot of the time today. I'm wanting to finish a gray wool prayer shawl I have started. I'm a little over halfway there on it.
The mail brought an early birthday card from my sister, plus several sympathy cards from dear friends I've never met face to face yet. See, I've known these precious women online for years and they are a blessing to know. A few of them sent love offerings, so thank you very much! (You know who you are.) What is amazing to me is that each offering was exactly the same amount. Now who but God could put that on anyone's heart? I pray God's richest blessings on them, and on all who lift us up in prayer. Without a doubt, if not for those prayers I'd be a sad case.
