What is wrong with some people?

I was walking through the store today looking things over and making
mental notes about what needed to be done. Things like sweeping, wiping
some tables, dealing with trash. As I rounded the end of a row of
booths, some writing on the edge of a table caught my eye, and even
from a distance I could make out what it said.

I won't post here the exact words but suffice it to say someone had used a black
permanent marker to write a very bad curse word plus an ethnic slur on
it. I was disgusted. I got a crew person's attention and requested some
cleaner and towels. But try as I might, the writing wouldn't come off
the white edge of the table.

I showed another manager what I'd found and a couple of crew members stepped over to see what we were talking about. Everyone was appalled, but one of the girls said she'd figure out some way to clean it off. She got other cleaners and started
scrubbing. Thankfully she did remove it completely.

Now I ask you, why would someone do something like that? Especially in a
restaurant where there are often children eating? Why would they do it at all?

I wish I knew who wrote that. I'd give them a piece of my mind, plus it could be that they'd have to pay for damages or something. But thelikelihood of ever knowing who did it is nil.
