Blackeyed peas and hog jowl
Now that I have your attention, what are you planning to eat tomorrow for your New Year's Day meal? We'll be having blackeyed peas and hog jowl, poke salad greens, cornbread, and fried potatoes. I might also steam some rice to go with it all. Here in the south, that's a pretty traditional New Year's Day meal and we do love to hold with tradition at times here.
Truthfully, this is the fare we love the best anytime of the year. It's one of our comfort foods and it's not an expensive meal to put on the table. The peas also cook more quickly than beans so I don't have to pre-soak them.
So? Share in comments what your menu for tomorrow is. I'd love to know what folks from other parts of the country or world traditionally do or eat for New Year's Day.
