County fair night
I finally had an enjoyable day off. I didn't even have to show up at my store for anything! Usually, on my days off some kind of "drama" occurs and I have to go around putting out fires and setting things to right. But today, I was able to relax at home then go with Younger Daughter and Youngest Son to our county fair.
Daughter is a huge lover of rides, but she wasn't feeling up to snuff today so decided not to ride anything. Instead, we just walked around and looked at the exhibits and at the animals. Of course, we people watched a little, too. I was surprised that we didn't meet up with anyone we knew tonight.
We did get corn dogs and lemonade while there, though Daughter didn't feel like having anything but the lemonade.
I learned that the fair now has art and photography categories, both of which were full. They had dropped the art category for several years but I suppose there was a demand for it that brought it back. I was disappointed, though, to see the household arts and crafts shelves. There just weren't very many entries and the items were spaced apart so that a lot of bare shelf was showing.
When the kids were younger, we entered tons of items and so did other folks. Those shelves were crammed full. Maybe this stuff just goes in cycles.
