Weed whacker

At least yesterday's temperatures were more moderate than they had been the previous days. In fact, by the time the sun went down it was getting very cool outside. So, I decided to assemble my new weed whacker and take it for a "test drive" around the steps of the front deck.

I didn't put the shield or balance handle on it. For one thing, I didn't have my glasses on so I couldn't figure out how the shield attached and I couldn't read the instruction sheet. When I started to put the handle on, I dropped the wing nut in the grass and couldn't find it. So, I'll finish the assembly today, with my glasses on, while it's still daylight!

Weed whacking is one of my favorite outdoor chores. I don't even know why, it just is. I'll work my way around the house and around the trees and other things in the yard. Then, I'll have to get a new tire for the lawn mower, work on that to get it started, and get the rest of the yard mowed.

I bought a 100 foot cord when I got the weed whacker so I should be able to get everywhere I need to use it with that length. Some of the time, though, I'll have to plug it in just inside the front door. Other times, I can use the outdoor outlet that's on the back deck. Either way, I'll work my way around the house and yard today, while it's cool out, and at least have that bit of improvement done.

I detest weed whacking. I could never get the hang of it when I was younger (9-15) and in charge of mowing the lawn. I'm sure there's a rhythm you get into, but I never got into it. The mowing part was fine (with the lawn mower), but I'd always have the weed whacker too high off the ground, or too low, or both (which would result in some very crooked lawn bits, LOL!). That's one job I don't miss doing!

I actually went outside and did some weed whacking this evening, when it cooled down. I don't know why I like that task so much, but I do!
