Sunday back to work

I had to be at work at 6 a.m. today (Sunday). I'm still not keen on getting to work that early, and now they are going to start opening earlier. I wasn't an opener this morning, but when I do open again, I'll have to be there at 4 a.m. It's only a 30 minute difference, but I'm not looking forward to getting up even earlier than before.

It was not a terribly busy Sunday until right after churches let out. Then it was really busy, but not for long. I got off on time today, which hasn't happened in awhile.

After work, I went to a local discount store and picked up some of the ingredients for the seasoning mix. A couple of them weren't available at the small store, so I'll head to the grocery store after work Monday to finish off the list. I also picked up a few other things including some things needed for granola.

When I got home from work, I fixed myself a glass of iced tea and relaxed on the front porch for awhile while Dog played in the yard. I guess I got my second wind because then I watered everything that needed it.

I was happy to see four ripe tomatoes on my vines. they've been really slow this year, but it seems like now I'll be getting tomatoes and peppers every few days. I'm just a bit disappointed that the tomatoes aren't bigger, but they'll still work just fine for side dishes.

I took a few pictures of my modest gardening efforts and I'll share them later.

Dog and I decided it was time to come in and do other things, so I started some bread dough in the bread machine. I wanted to bake this bread in the oven instead of in the machine so it would have a little thinner bottom crust on it.

While the dough was making, I put together some granola and got it in the oven to brown. It's cool now, so I'll store it in a zip bag. It gets crisp after it cools, and this batch is certainly a nice one. I use it as an out-of-hand snack, a cold cereal, and a hot cereal. When I indulge in ice cream, which is rare, I also like to sprinkle it on top of that.

I don't really have a particular recipe for granola. It's like salad - you put in it what you like and what you have on hand. I will try to send along a basic recipe for it, though, in case you want to try it.
