Mini vacation notes
So, last week I joined Mom, Sis, and Brother-in-law for the Grape Festival. They stayed at a nearby campground in their travel trailer, and I stayed with them. The campground is just beautiful, nested along the banks of the Arkansas River, it flows past the camp offering a beautiful view every day.
I saw tugs pushing their barges through the lock and dam that's within view of the camp. I also visited with Canadian Geese, which nested not far up the river and wandered down to the camp for handouts.
The sunsets in the evening of this very hot week were glorious - filled with color and the restful sounds of birds, frogs, crickets and more.
Each day offered new activities ranging from visiting local attractions to flea markets to the two-day festival itself. Of course, this is wine country in our state, so wine tasting was a daily event. Friday night was an awesome fireworks display that rivaled any I've ever seen. We sat near it and got the full impact of booms and light show right over our heads.
The Festival included not only wine tasting, but wine making events such as the grape stomps. Also included were a grape pie eating contest, music from locals and from the Cummins Prison Band, Bacchus look-alike contest, and craft booths which offered things like jewelry, rock art, clothing, and kitchen linens.
Sis' blog gives you lots of daily details into our activities. She has journaled it all. Thanks, Sis!
