Christmas kickoff

Thanksgiving officially kicks off the holiday season. At least, to me it does, even though I've been seeing Christmas decorations and hearing Christmas music everywhere. It seems like businesses begin all this earlier and earlier every year, as if consumers don't already know which major holiday si coming up.

My preference is to see and hear Christmas related stuff a little closer to the actual day. Maybe two weeks away is soon enough even, at least to me. The season is rushed so much that I actually get sick of it all well before the Day arrives.

I wonder if that's one of the reasons so many people seek depression treatment these days? Could it be that the inundation of Christmas just overwhelms them? Does it bring to the surface the feelings of loneliness, or magnify those feelings?
