Gardening plans
I am going to start pulling some gardening things together, I think. First of all, I'm going to see what I have on hand that I can start seeds indoors with. I know I have some small pots and a couple of seedling trays out back. I just need to get some peat pellets and more small pots, I think.
Next, I'm going to see about setting up some grow lights in the house, near the back door. I don't use that door at this time of the year and there's already a card table set up there for other purposes, so it's a good, out of the way location for a grow setup. Just need to run a cord to it or maybe get battery operated lights to set up there.
Then, I need to set up a cold frame outside so I can harden-off the seedlings before I plant them.
Really cold days like today are the best time to think about gardening, I believe. It gives me something to look forward to when the weather is better, which is the best rehab for me when it comes to overcoming cabin fever!
As soon as possible, I'll see about getting a load of dirty sand hauled in here and use that as part of my gardening mix. I'll put my own compost in it along with raked up leaves and maybe some manure from a local farmer. This should be an excellent growing medium -- rich and loose. I still need to set up more beds around the yard since about all I do anymore is raised bed gardening and intensive gardening.
